The End is Near

School is coming to an end maybe! Next May I plan to graduate from Troy with a bachelors degree in fine arts. I don’t know what the plan is from there whether it’s graduate school or something else. All that school and I still dont know what im going to do other than pay off student loans.

Jennifer has started teaching at a new school called Girard Middle School in Dothan. She no longer has a hour drive to get to work and we get to spend more time with Emily.

Emily is doing good, she is at a new daycare learing all kinds of letters, colors, and all kind things. I can hardly belive that she will be three in November. I think we are going to Disney World for her birthday, she is really into the Disney characters and princess’s. She is groing up way to fast.

Will it ever end?

•January 29, 2009 • 7 Comments

Thanks for the happy birthdays! I was able to go to Disney word for my birthday. We left out on Friday the 16 with Jennifer’s parents running a little behind schedule. About 2/3 of the way there the van we had decided to brake down. The alternator crapped out on us and took the battery with it. Luckily there was a parts place just down the road and two hours later we were back in business. After  a good nights rest we went to the Hollywood studios park and had fun for the most part. I will have pictures soon. On the way back we get a call from the person watching the in-laws dog and found out the dog ran away with no sign of the dog yet.

School has taken over my life. I have no free time for any thing. Time keeps flying bye. Maybe I need to run away like the dog except with my luck I think somebody would find me.

Almost done

This semester is almost over only 3 or 4 more weeks. I have made it into the BFA program as well. Things are going good if I can hang on.

We have been considering going to Disney Word for my birthday because I will get in free and the timing is good. I think Emily would love going there. Emily is doing good and getting in allot of trouble. she is stating to talk now I still cant understand her most of the time but she says I love pretty good.

Jennifer is doing good. She is teaching 7Th grade English at the same place. We are both looking forward to the holiday brakes.

School, School, School

I cant Waite for this semester to be over with! I fill like i have sold my sole to Troy University. Every teacher wants to give me a project that is imposable to get done, and they think that there class is the only one I have. I also have a portfolio due tomorrow to get into the BFA program and I help take care of the printmaking lab for a scholarship I got this semester. I have 16 credit hours this semester and I will have 18 next semester so i could have my BFA after next fall semester and start my masters in art education spring of 2010. Both Jennifer and i would like it if school was done but it seems to drag on and on. This weekend I managed to get a little brake and went to the lake with my sail boat. The stupid motor had problems at first but i maneged to get it going. That was a nice six hours of enjoyment that I wish could last forever.

Jennifer is doing good. She is still teaching in Eufala, tho this years kids are harder to in joy. Emily is staring to talk ware you can almost understand what she is saying. I can hardly believe she will be two next month. She relay likes when i read to here at night now, but only me not mom. She likes Dr. Seuss’s “One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish”. She will listen to any book but that one is her favorite one.

Other than that life goes on as normal.

A Long Haul

Where did all my time go? I have no life of my own now that school has drained it from me. I went to a meeting for the BFA program, because I have considered changing from BS in art education and going to graduate school for education so I would be able to teach at a Junior college level, and little did i know that the art club would be part of this meeting. One of the things on the agenda was to elect officers for the club. Someone decided to nominate me for president and everyone voted me in. This came as a surprise to me and now with the little free time I had is gone.

The hurricane season is bad this year. Hopefully i will be able to survive without having to go clean up the damage.

Not much else is going on, not like i have time for anything, I cant waite for Christmas’s and i hate Christmas’s but love the brake.

Back to school

Other than the Idaho trip and sailing out on the gulf for a day my summer has been boring and full of work.

Today is the first day of school here at Troy University in Troy. I have a long brake in my schedule so i now have time to write on my blog and read what every one is up to.

Life goes on as usual not much change down here in the south, just the same old hot humid days. Jennifer stated teaching last week and is always exhausted when she gets home. Emily is still growing fast and is ornery as ever, we still love her though. She gets into everything and she is full of energy its hard to keep up with her.

Getting Ready for Idaho

•June 20, 2008 • 7 Comments

After school got out I thought life would be less stressful.  Boy was I dreaming!

I wanted to work full time at the cabinet shop to earn money, I thought I would be at the shop and have a little time to relax, My boss thought I would be more valuable installing. I was released from scouts and young men’s, again I thought i could relax a little, then i was called to be the assistant ward clerk over fiances. Though it will get easier, and i wouldn’t trade this calling for anything I have no time to relax. I had some crazy lady ask me if i was going to write reimbursement checks the Sunday i was asked to take the calling. Some people need to think before opening there mouths.

Jennifer has been left with the job of preparing for Idaho. She seems to be as busy as i am with Emily and her church stuff. To top it all off we went to Navoo for her family reunion last weekend, about a 16 hour drive from Dothan, we road with her mom and dad, her brother and his wife and 6 month old baby, and we had Emily all in a big van. Every one was great and it went well it was just to long of a trip for just one full day at navoo.

Now I’m at youth conference in Troy Alabama as a chaperon and won’t get back until Saturday. Monday and Tuesday I will be a leader for scout camp and we leave for Idaho on Thursday.

I cant Waite to get to Idaho and have fun and get a brake from the rat race here.

I can finally breathe

Yes, Joe, I’m alive.  Barely.  My week from heck is over.  I took my last final on Tuesday, so I can finally relax a little.  I graduated from Wallace Community College on Thursday.  I can’t believe that I’ve actually graduated from college, even though it’s an associate’s degree.  Just a couple more years and I’ll be done with my bachelor’s.  I’ll be taking the summer off from school and working at the cabinet shop full time.  This summer is still going to be hectic, though.  In June we plan to go to Nauvoo for a family reunion.  Then, of course, we’ll be in Idaho for two weeks.  That, combined with scouting activities, will completely fill my summer.

By the way, if anyone cares to know, I’m officially a volunteer fireman.  I go to meetings every other week.  I’ve responded to a couple of fires, but it hasn’t really been very exciting (not that fires should be exciting.)  It’s a small town, and not much goes on.

Jennifer is staying busy.  She has two more weeks to go until summer vacation starts, and she’s counting the days.

Emily is growing like a weed.  She’s saying a few words and her little personality keeps us laughing.

We can’t wait to visit everyone this summer.

#%$&*!@ Boat Motor

•April 8, 2008 • 5 Comments

This weekend we went to the lake. I decided to take my sailboat because it was windy. I got there early to put it in the water, but the water was high at the launching ramp and the boat wouldn’t come off the trailer because the angle of the ramp at that water level. I would have to take the mast down and drive to a ramp so I backed the van up in the water a little more, still no luck. I finally said heck with it and backed the van so far that water went half way up almost, to the lights on the van. Still I hade to almost kill myself to get the boat off the trailer. After pulling the van up to park and leaving all the trash in the back of the van in the water I get on the boat and try to start the motor. The #%$&*!@ motor wouldn’t start! I was a good boy and stayed calm and kept the cursing down though I was frustrated. After about an hour a stranger gave me a tow to the boat dock and we went to eat even though we were late to our reservation. That night I didn’t want to mess with the boat because it was late getting back and I didn’t want to lose my temper. The next day it rained all day and we just staid in and watched conference and had a lazy day. The next day I went out and cleaned the spark plug and thought I hade the motor running smooth, but I was fooled and I took it on a test run and it quit three times and we barley made it back in. I just bought the motor last year with only 20 hours on it and now I was mad. I did my best to keep the angry monster in and decided to not worry about it. I barley made it to a different ramp to pull it out of the water and now I don’t know what to do with it. I’m afraid to work on it and lose my temper and take a hammer to it. Maybe a tune up will do the trick. I don’t know what the deal is with the hectic weekend trips and the motor problems but I hope the curse will end soon.
